Undeniably, outsourcing has really benefited the receiving countries. Countries like India, China, Bulgaria, etc have developed their infrastructure tremendously to match up with the outsourced projects. The employment scenario has also been better for these countries. However, it is not that only these countries have benefited from outsourcing, the foreign investors are also very happy to outsource and work. It is a mutual thing which has benefited both the provider and receiver. There may be some protests against globalization but outsourcing will be done. There are many reasons for it; some of these are as follows.
Cost Efficiency
It is by and large the main reason why companies outsource the jobs. Actually, skilled labor and qualified professionals in developed countries are far more expensive than those of developing countries. India and China are the two world’s most populous country and professionals here are available at a very low price. This helps the companies to cut the job cost and increase revenue. That is why outsourcing will be in demand as multinationals will always look to outsource some jobs for cost efficiency.
Specialized Services
No matter, how skilled the labor of a country is, there are some tasks they cannot do or don’t have experience in. For example if there is a particular type of job that can only be done in China then rather than training the employees a company will look to outsource the job. Obviously, cost it a factor here but the experts in that particular technology can provide specialized serviced that might not be possible in the native country of that company.
Quality
The giant corporate houses are very strict about the quality they deliver and they don’t mind spending some extra bucks if the quality is of desired level. Now as the quality of professionals and technology has evolved so much around the world that these corporate houses cannot evade the thought of outsourcing the jobs.
Delivery
Another reason for outsourcing is shortening of the delivery time. If a product has to be manufactured and delivered in India then getting it manufactured in China would be a better option than manufacturing it in USA. This will save the shipping time and the customers would get their products quickly.
Time Zone Advantage
This is probably the least discussed factor but the companies that outsource understand this thing. A lot of projects need to be corrected and studied before they are passed. For example, if software is developed in a day in USA and then the testing and report generation will happen next day but if the same software is developed in India in day time when it’s night in USA, it can be tested the very day it is made. This may sound like a very small issue but it can save a lot of time in the long run. Time Zone advantages provide a base to companies to cut short the time taken on a project.
Therefore, it seems very unlikely that outsourcing will fade away with time. It will very much remain in demand as the above outsourcing advantages cannot be replaced. Moreover, the developing countries will always be in need of employment and better paying projects so there seems no problem arising from their end too.
