Yes that's a truth more then 80% call center all over the world shutdown in 3-6 month period there are thousands of reason why it happen. I don't know all but few i know and here they are
1. Technology = On a very bigning they save money on the most important thing that will run there business and that is Technology (Dialer,VoIP, Switches, Lease Lines, Quality hardware and so on).Instead of this they spend more then required to make there center look good.
Outcome = Looks dose not run Center Technology dose and they realize that after 3-4 months and now its too late.
2. Process = Centers believe in anyone who promises them Process in High Payout. They even pay Upfront but that is a different point a together.They never try to investigate about the Process provider, and Fraud Consultants take full advantage of that and this make good Consultant company also look Bad.
Outcome = Fake process no payout you find other process in hurry same problem as you want to recover your invested money you go for higher payout instead of Genuine Consultant or provider whose payout is less but he is reliable.In last you try to run center in loss for couple of months then Close and try to put it on lease.
3. More then 2 Partners = Yup this a big reason too. 4-5 Agent level convince there parents to open a call center as they know everything about it so they open call center and realize they know how call center work but they don't know how to run it no say this to another one that i don't know how to run this thing in the end CLASH and call center is in DOOM no salary to agents and case closed in 2-3 months. and they all are doing JOB in call center as agents and happy now.
Outcome = lack of experience but want to do big without thinking and proper planing spoil the money of Investor and put him in debts .
4. Experience = You can say its part 2 of third point. People who work in call center for 3-4 years start thinking that now they know everything about call center business and how it work so what they do they find Investors.IN most cases they Uncle who is Very very rich or living offshore.They help them with money and some time even good Process also BUT now the problem is how to run this thing.Then starts the planing Leased line DONE, Dialer(cheap one) DONE, Infra DONE, Recruitment DONE (most of them are friends), now its been 2-3 months, money is gone process started at last. Now they Funny Part starts because now they realize that there expanses are more then there Earning Hmmmmmm what went wrong. They never take per seat investment which must include all the expanses divided by the number of seats. which is about 15-25k/seat and they never push there agents for same as even they don't know about it.
Outcome = same as all of above Center close in 3-6 months, Finding some to leased it so they can get anything from it and Investor unhappy all realize the truth of Life that it hard to run business and easy to do JOB.
