In response to “My Single Biggest Reason Why Outsourcing Shouldn't Be Opposed” we have received some really insightful responses. In case you haven’t listed your reason, do it now. Below are the compelling arguments for why outsourcing shouldn't be opposed.
"There is a notion, somewhat factual, that the business case for offshore outsourcing has eroded due to the reduction of differential in labor rates between onshore and offshore. That is the single biggest reason for companies to revisit their sourcing strategies, arguing that they can bring work back in house for much less of a premium than before, and also increase customer responsiveness and satisfaction by doing so.
The fallacy lies in the second-half of this reasoning. The outsourcing providers have created an ecosystem in which individuals work to deliver services. That ecosystem cannot be replicated - so it is not a question of swapping labor. Also, the dedication and energy of an ambitious career-BPO individual in India, who is happy and proud of her career, is quite different from someone working in a similar role in the US that is doing it only because it was the only job available.
So BPO is here to stay. The service providers will constantly be challenged to demonstrate increasing value from their services, given tougher times being faced by their clients.
