Outsourcing Education: A Dangerous Trend for Western Kids

Outsourcing is not just confined to BPO, LPO, software and KPO, it is much more than that. Due to the advent of ipads, iphones and other types of gadgets children from the west are paying less time to their studies. A study reveals that children from America and Euro zone spend at least 8 hours to these gadgets and mostly they are addicted to Facebook and Twitter to get connected. But the question that arises; how do they manage to do their homework and other studies at school.

Quite interestingly, they are resorting to out-of-box smart solutions to find ways to tackle homework so as to escape harsh words from their teachers and parents. These children have understood the importance of outsourcing in their lives and are harnessing it to their advantage. They are getting their projects and homework done via online. But how do they manage it. Well the answer is, they get their homework done with the help of a teacher sitting miles away from their place.

These teachers are students and professional people settled in Asia, specially in India. As these kids know most of Indians are well versed in English, Maths and Science so they outsource their homework from them and in return they pay modest amount of dollars. In this way these western kids get time for all activities that interest them.

The point to highlight here is that these tactics may help them in the short run but this form of outsourcing may hinder their overall development and may hamper their knowledge levels which in turn again rob of their jobs as and when they grow up to have their place in the job market. To some people outsourcing is boon but may actually be bane for some as well.

Outsourcing Online tutoring is a full fledged lucrative business and education offshoring is emerging as one of the important source of revenue for the developing nations which offer services of highly qualified professionals at extremely low prices. The need of the hour is to debate about the appropriateness and effectiveness of offshore online tutoring.
