BPO Voice: Business Process Outsourcing, Call Center Outsourcing
Call Center Services, Outsourcing Services, Outsourcing Projects
For the last decade, the BPO sector has been instrumental in enhancing the employment rate in India from 46.79% to 72.86%. Not only that, the BPO's (Business Process Outsourcing Units) or formally known as Call/Contact Centers have contributed towards the economic strategic growth of the Nation. This sector has absorbed the youth of the country & provided them with a platform wherein they get an opportunity to lay the foundations of their career. Some have taken up BPO's as their career & grown at a tremendous rate. They've been given the exposure, not just to the corporate world but to the international market as well.
Amazing isn't it?
An employment opportunity that provides you with ample money, exposure & knowledge at your convenience. Working in an Indian Organizations which are operational at a National level could surely give you the exposure to the modern Corporate Environment, its demands, essentials & intricacies; however this is something to be imagined, a fresh graduate coming from any part of the country joining a BPO & getting the exposure to the rest of the world. Dealing with International clients, catering to their demands, needs, & expectations. Fulfilling the prerequisites & complying to pressure situations.
It's an old saying in India "The best way to judge the capabilities of an individual is to bestow him/her with a responsibility & then witness how he/she shoulders it". I guess the BPO's, although they aren't entirely Indian; have unintentionally followed the same strategy. And it gives me immense pleasure, when I say the Indian youth have stood up to the expectations. Indians have really made it big as far as BPO & IT is concerned. Outsourcing has no limits & India has virtually become the hub of Offshore Business of the world. After a series of achievements & reaching the heights the Indian BPO industry has stretched itself beyond borders.
Following the footsteps of India, other developing economies like Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh & now Sri Lanka have also have kick-started BPO operations & they are indeed making good bucks.
After a success story of this grandeur the contemporary Indian society has not been able to accept this industry as a prospective future for the upcoming generations..
The biggest concern that our society has with BPO's is the fact that they have Night Shifts. Parents oppose their children when they talk about joining a Call/Contact Center unit wherein they have to work through late evenings or even Nights. "Our children would develop Bad Habits" i.e. smoking, drinking, womanizing (for boys/men), getting into trouble with men (for girls/women)" are the biggest apprehensions they the Indian society has been infected with.
Some would even like to add-on by associating physical illness & many other diseases with the working hours in a Call/Contact center.
BPO's still remain a NIGHT-SHIFT work, that is threatening the cultural entity of the Indian society. When my son/daughter grows up, I want him/her to be a doctor or an engineer or a pilot. "Would there ever be anybody in India, who would want their son to grow-up a become Contact Center Manager/CEO/HOD... "NO" this is not likely to happen. But, what can happen is, "If my son/daughter takes-up BPO's prospective career, I'd be happy support him or rather I'd be happy for him.
"Who or What" exactly is the cause behind this negativity regarding working in a BPO ?
No brainstorming required, its a mutual contribution of both the sects of society. People who work for Call/Contact Centers & people who're against Call/Contact Center. Working in evening/night shifts doesn't mean, one would have to invariably give-in to these "BAD HABITS" & at the same time people who don't work in Night Shifts don't really have to spread rumors against the work atmosphere prevailing in a BPO unit. Simply because they're aware of the kind of work & the atmosphere BPO's offer to its employees. One can surely maintain his/her stature, dignity, ethics, learning's, cultural entity & social standards irrespective of working in Evening/Night shifts. The onus is on the youth, to set examples for themselves & proving the orthodox Indian society wrong on their perception & opinion.
Nobody can force a literate individual to succumb to the temptation of taking these "BAD HABITS", this is & would remain for the time to come, "An Individual Choice". Life would keep throwing such challenges wherein one has to opt between "what is easy & what is right" its up to the individuals to decide.
Our society should also have the eye for contemplating the contribution of this Alien industry to the socio-economic growth of country. Encouragement is required, blended with motivation. People who have made it big in this industry, have swam against the tide, but the question is why would there be a tide. People..... Please answer...
