The factor personnel (both: quality and quantity) is even more important today than a few years ago. Corporations tend to locate their shared services operations in the locations where they have an access to the pool of high-qualified specialists at an optimal cost level.
According to one of the newest PwC study Financial shared service center on the rise toward valuable busines..., the five most important location factors considered by corporations are the following ones:
1. Qualified staff
2. Labor costs and legislation
3. Proximity to core business location/s
4. Location support infrastructure
5. Co-location with other functions
The further location factors include economic environment and quality of life.
The PwC study has been performed in the period from July 2011 to January 2012 among 33 financial services corporations world-wide, which operate at least one shared service center (they have 94 shared service centers in total).
