Telecommunications firm Aruba Network set up shared service centre in Cork

Aruba Networks is to create 40 jobs in Cork over the next four years through setting up its international headquarters and shared services centre for all regions outside of the US in Cork.

Western Australia Shared Services Project struggling to succeed!

The Western Australia government initiated a shared services project in 2003 that was focused on providing services through a series of shared service centres for 90 public sector agencies. Hertfordshire County Council in £200 million outsourcing deal with Serco

Hertfordshire County Council has signed an eight year, £200 million deal with services giant Serco for the provision of a range of front and back office services, including ICT – a deal it hopes will deliver as much as £25 million annual savings over the period.

UK Councils sign £2m a year deal

EXL 3rd Quarter Net Income up 95%

Global BPO firm ExlService Holdings posted a 95 per cent jump in net income at USD 7.8 million for the third-quarter ended September 2010. NHS Wales sets up shared services board

A committee of health chiefs is to develop the shared services programme across the whole of the NHS in Wales. Welsh Health Minister Edwina Hart said the new NHS Wales Shared Services Committee would allow health boards and trusts to concentrate on running frontline services ‘without the distraction of running non-clinical functions’.

Intelenet plan IPO and become part owned by Barclays

Private Equity owned Intelenet plan an IPO in the next two years, to provide an exit strategy for investors. Blackstone owns majority stake of 66.75%, HDFC 4.69% and Intelenet employees 16.75%.

Herefordshire shared services deal promises £2.7 million savings

Herefordshire Council and local Health bodies expect to save £2.7m a year by using cross-sector shared services. The public bodies have signed a £1.5m deal with an IT provider to use its Agresso-based business software platform. US stops BPO training in Lanka

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) that provides humanitarian and economic aid worldwide has suspended the training of 3,000 youth from war-ravaged northern Lankan districts in outsourcing skills, to ensure that the new jobs created in Sri Lanka will not take away employment opportunities from Americans.

Edinburgh Council £90 million spending cuts not painless!

City of Edinburgh Council’s Finance Director, Donald McGoughan, has provided details of the first phase of £90 million cuts and stated that the three stage plan was “not painless” and that the savings could well involve shared services. Barclays to create 600 jobs in Glasgow

Global bank, Barclays, is set to create 600 jobs in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. UK Financial Services to save £8 billion through cost saving methods

BearingPoint research in financial services has stated that nearly 80% of large companies that have looked to introduce and optimise SSC models have realised cost savings of over 20%. As a result they recoup the initial set-up costs within three years.
