BPO's in Africa need to invest in Lifelong Learning in order to compete with other industry players.

As a member within the management team in a Data Processing BPO,am approached by several fellow employees in all capacities and one of the issues that is always fronted unto me is they have done the data entry for so long that it has become quite monotonous and boring because there is no add-on value and skills doing the same stuff.Some openly confess they come to work for the sake of earning a living and meeting their own bills.It has been noted that modern economies are based on knowledge…See More

About Me
am working as a Project Manager/IT support Staff in a Business Process Outsourcing Company Based in Uganda( East Africa).
I would like to acquire exposure and learn from different technologies available.My vision is to use technology to provide employment for the youth in developing countries.And that this can only be achieved if there individuals and companies to bridge the Gap between opportunities and talent available in developing countries.

Africa the destination for BPO Companies

Well much as most of the BPO services have been offered by China,India and other countries due to the cheap labor and the well developed infrastructure i believe the trend is about to change because of the following reasons;
Most African countries have the colonial languages such as English, French ,German etc being taught from the start of school till end and vastly spoken in their countries where as in other countries these are optional.
Secondly recently the East African coast celebrated the landing of the undersea Optic Fiber Cable that is believe to reduce the cost of telecommunication by 70% making the cost of infrastructural development lower than before. If there is a reductions in Bandwidth cost then this will enable investment with in the industry in Africa since High Bandwidth costs were hindering investments.

Thirdly the aspect of available labor is key due to the majority of unemployed University students on the streets of African Capitals.
So As an African i believe we can compete favourably with other players in the BPO industry

Dear Kigozi

I get e-mails from the readers of my blogs, articles and reports and I like hearing from them that the content I provide has helped them. And that is for me an indicator that the work I am doing absolutely makes sense (and motivates me to do more...).

Merry Christmas and Happy, Successful New Year for you!

Best regards
