Is it worth starting a discussion what people think, can working with a BPO lead to a career or just a matter of making quick buck.
Is it about reaching new heights or is it about buying the latest trendy phone.
Do people foresee a long term career or most of us still earn some money while preparing for CAT or MAT etc.
Happy to discuss :)
well the news is correct, however we should not forget +ve sides to it, Ageis bout a call centre in PHP, WNS is ramping up, 24X7 ramping up, we have biggies who are ramping up, industry is consolidating.
Its part of the game, some lose business some gain - net result is increase in people working for BPO's.
Counter that :)
bottomline is after 2012 there wont be call centers in india
all these 10 lacs people will be jobless and nowehere 2 give coz telecallers r not valued anywhere
Hate to burst your negative bubble Jagdeep but in case you didnt read the earlier posts, the BPO industry is not just about 'telecalling' anymore. It has matured from being a low end service / support industry to providing some really high end services. And this is just the beginning!
Just as an FYI ( I dont mean to boast about my company here), Satyam BPO is designing and testing engines remotely for a leading Earthmoving Equipment Manufacturer from its Hyderabad site in addition to providing pack management and design services for a Major Pharma company (Labels and Outer Packs). There are other companies which provide high end analytical services pertaining to risk, fraud and market research.
I'm not sure what other companies are providing as high end services to their respective clients (Please share the same inthe forum so that our own members are aware of this before posting any negative comments about the industry) but this IMO is as close to working for the client company itself that you can get being based in in your hometown with your family. It actually works in multiple ways (a)the client does not need to invest in setting up a complete infrastructure (b) client partially gets the benefit of labor arbitrage (though this is now marginal) (c) They dont need to bother with the logistics (SLA driven environment) (d) The service provider provides the right skills for the right job (Engineers, Doctors etc).
