How to Start a BPO Company

I think you wanted to know about,how to start a BPO Company and not industry... the industry has already been started... see if you can edit the title...

If You have great professional experience then you could offer good quality services through a KPO/LPO company.

There are TWO important points to understand:

1. Delivery Competence: You will have to show experience in the local finance and legal knowledge to attract clients. So if you want to serve clients from USA, then your team should have the US-specific knowledge. This means extra costs in acquiring those skills compared to what you have already in your team.

2. Client Relationships: Its very difficult to get KPO/LPO projects without solid client relationships, where the client trusts you or your representative. If you are starting from scratch, it will take you a long time to build these relationships, which will give clients the comfort level to outsource to you. Its important to have at least one person from your team or your representative to reside in the target country. You should consider partnering with companies/professionals in these countries who have client relationships and who can present themselves for initial discussions.

I find it a great idea to start a BPO company and I am happy to encourage you in this way.

I suggest you to start with the "basics": define your objectives, think what your strengths are which can help you to achieve these objectives. I think it is important in this stage not to look for barriers but to define measures and to search for possibilities. Do you know MindMapping? - it could help you to structure and develop ideas. Read about other entrepreneurs, one can learn much from them.

Nowadays Internet makes it possible to start a multinational company and to expand very quickly with minimum funds.

1) German Chamber of Commerce: http://www.dihk.de/english/. You can contact them regarding co-operations with German companies. You can also ask them for advice and/or publications
2) EMRG's 9th Annual BPO Conference: http://www.emrgind.com/pdfs/bpo_2009.pdf. This conference (and other events) are organized by EMRG in London, UK, you can meet both: service providers and (potential) customers - they come from many different countries. Look for their other events, that is really a good opportunity to get contacts. You would have to invest time and money to come to Europe for a few days, however, I am sure, it will pay back
3) Bridge-To-Business: http://www.bridge2b.net/index-en-lin.html. You can offer your services using this website
4) PAIZ, Poland: http://www.paiz.gov.pl/index/?lang_id=12. This organisation supports companies and individuals willing to make business in Poland
5) German Embassy in India: http://www.new-delhi.diplo.de/Vertretung/newdelhi/en/Startseite.html. They should help you establishing contacts with German companies. Also visit websites of embassies of other countries and try to contact them
6) EU measures helping start-ups: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/entrepreneurship/support_measures/st...
7) There are also quite many websites offering projects to freelancers and/or companies or offering freelancers/companies the opportunity to present their offer, as for instance http://www.outsourcing.org/, you can look for them and use them.

I am happy if I could help you a little bit. I would encourage you to integrate the idea of establishing a BPO company into your MBA project, then you can gain same synergies out of it. Also look for further inspirations for this idea in both: in India (asking for instance about possible subsidies for people intending to start a company) and internationally (informing yourself about further opportunities, trying to establish contacts and co-operations).

Imagine: you are the client wanting let's say: somebody to create a website for you. What would you expect? Informal contacts? Or rather references and examples of work done in the past?

Prepare a good, professional offer, tell the potential client about your company, your competencies, projects you have done in the past. What you do better, than the competitors: are you cheaper? Do you offer better quality? Or maybe you are quicker than they are? Remember, a potential client does not know you, so it is your job to give your best to introduce your activities.

The list of companies you can get contacting chambers of trade for instance. Or making an Internet research, depending on the location you prefer.
